What is Berserk?

Berserk is a dark fantasy seinen (Young Adult) action manga series, published by Young Animal comics in japan and translated and published by Dark Horse comics for the west.

The story is about Guts, a swordsman who is betrayed and alone, and struggles to survive day by day fighting against twisted monsters called 'Apostles' and demonic gods known as 'The God Hand' as well as fighting his own demons within.

Along his journey against fate he encounters many deadly enemies as well as new unexpected allies, whilst meeting familiar faces from his past that give him the drive to keep pushing forward, to fight to live another day.

The themes in Berserk are not for the faint of heart as the series leans into a lot of dark material as well as a plethora of gore and violence.

Berserk has over 40 tankoban volumes and has sold over 40+ million copies worldwide

Berserk was the series that inspired the creation of the dark souls franchise as well as other dark fantasy series that have come out recently.
